Wireless electronic ballasts: smart light control with ZigBee Light Link
Freely adjustable accent lighting, wireless controllable and efficient – this embodies the new wireless electronic ballast FLS-PP lp from dresden elektronik. The electronic ballast is part of the wireless light control system, which allows to control by smartphone or tablet via web application using a LAN-ZigBee gateway. Compatible with comparable systems like Philips hue and Osram Lightify, which are also based on the ZigBee Light Link standard, the wireless electronic ballast PLS-PP lp offers a few major advantages in comparison.
Adjustable white and RGBW color management
Compared with the control systems such as from Philips and Osram the FLS-PP lp provides a higher performance. The current of 6A enables for instance the use of a 10-metre-long 12V RGB LED strips (30 LEDs/m at 7,2W/m). Thereby areas can be better illuminated or reach a higher power of illumination. The acronym lp stands for low profile and characterizes a slim design (141x30x13mm). In contrast to Philips and Osram the FLS-PP lp is equipped with four instead of three channels. The RGB/RGBW color management makes it possible to freely adjust countless nuances from restrained pastel shades up to saturated colors. The optional white channel broadens the spectrum for natural colors with high with content. The adjustable white function can create natural light like daylight, working light or comfortable living room light by continuously merging cold and warm white. Beside 12V also 24V lamps are used for professional application areas.
Operating the wireless ballast and the connected lamps can be done via RaspBee gateway of dresden elektronik and web application (by smartphone, tablet or computer). Via over-the-air-update future software updates for the wireless ballast can be easily brought in via gateway.
Extension kit: FLS-PP lp Bundle (RGB)
With the extension kit for the ZigBee-wireless-controlled light customers, who have already bought a starter kit from Philips or Osram, are able to further expand their smart lighting at home. The bundle from dresden elektronik contains a wireless electronic ballast including an adaptor and a 3m long RGB-LED stripe and offers compared to Philips and Osram a good cost-benefit-ratio with an adjustable white support and a 3m instead a 2m long RGB-LED stripe. Additional control elements are not necessary. The electronic ballast gets integrated in the existing network and controlled over the gateway like all other devices. The bundle is available worldwide in the online shop of dresden elektronik, Amazon and soon at Digi-Key.
ZigBee Light Link
ZigBee is based on IEEE 802.15.4. wireless standards, which distinguishes itself by extremely low power consumption from other wireless technologies like WiFi or Bluetooth. The provided web application by dresden elektronik opens the user a wide range of operation possibility like dimming, color changing, grouping of lights as well as storage and retrieval of self-definable scenarios.
