Secure Flash – The Cure for Insecurity in Connected Automotive and Industrial Applications
With the autonomous revolution underway in the auto and industrial markets, edge nodes are becoming cyber-attack targets. Software updates, remote capture of diagnostic data, and communications between remote endpoints and infrastructure are becoming increasingly common and prone to major security threats. A challenge with semiconductor advancement is that as geometries continue to shrink, eFlash becomes more difficult to embed within an MCU on a Hardware Security Module (HSM). When eFlash is offloaded, it is in a more vulnerable state, making it critical to have a secure boot process, and the content on the devices must also be trusted. During this session, attendees will learn about the development challenges and security requirements needed for next-gen devices as memory moves off the HSM and in some cases becomes a hardware root of trust. Additionally, use cases will be covered including: cryptographically secure storage, fast secure bootup, and secure Firmware-Over-the-Air Updates.
