Predictive Maintenance Using Structure-borne Noise Analysis
For operators of widely distributed, decentralized plants and machines in the field of conveyor technology, the plant locations are often remote and not quickly accessible. Personnel are often not on site. Maintenance in the event of machine breakdowns is particularly time-consuming, downtimes and costs are enormous. The lecture is dedicated to the application example of a predictive maintenance solution) using Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT). The method records and analyses the vibrations of rotating or vibrating components in order to determine wear and tear, loosening of mechanical connections or the penetration of foreign bodies. Recorded as signals by microphones or acceleration sensors, the signal transformation from the time to the frequency domain subsequently enables the mechanical evaluation of the condition. After this analysis, the current condition of the machine can be estimated on the basis of the recorded frequency spectrum and wear can be detected at an early stage.
