IEEE 802.11AX for IoT
With each new IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi standard, the data throughput has been improved to deal with the ever-increasing demand from new applications requiring higher data throughput. The new IEEE 802.11ax standard continues this trend with higher throughput alongside new features that allows it to perform in dense environments in an efficient and robust manner, improving performance for the user. However, for low power, low data rate, battery operated applications, Wi-Fi has traditionally has not been used as much as other wireless standards as it is seen as less power efficient. As well as improving data rates and robustness, IEEE 802.11ax is designed to address this problem with a range of new features. During this session we will discuss the new features and explain why IEEE 802.11ax 20 MHz option is the perfect choice for the IoT / wearables / low power Wi-Fi markets and should be looked at rather than the older IEEE 802.11n standard.
