How the Use the IIC's IICF to Select the Best IIoT Connectivity Technology
Building out a distributed system infrastructure in today's emerging Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) landscape means selecting from a sizable list of connectivity or protocol standards. If you are a developer or system architect, you know that there are many tools and protocols available to use to move data around in your distributed application. Not to mention the possibility of building out your own custom solution directly on TCP or UDP sockets. The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) recently published its Industrial Internet Connectivity Framework document. It provides a new network stack specific to the IIoT, elaborates the requirements for connectivity frameworks in an IIoT system, assesses various standards against those requirements and suggests four core connectivity standards. In this session, we will provide an overview of the IIC's Connectivity Framework (IICF) architecture and core standards, and then detail how to choose, based on your system requirements, between the four standards.
