End-to-end IoT devices Secure Identity Management using Industry Standard SIM Technology
Advancements in cellular grade LTE and NB-IoT networks allow for billions of devices to be connected to established operator networks. Each of these devices can be securely identified using a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) allowing for seamless connectivity and provisioning. Furthermore, GSMA support for eUICC technology (remote provisioning of SIMs) enables optimized form factors and cost profile for use of SIM in IoT. This allows billions of IoT devices to be securely connected and managed, within the established networking infrastructure.
In this presentation, we will discuss how IoT devices can be shipped with out-of-the box connectivity to existing operator networks. For Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), the connectivity ‘profile’ can be generated and loaded into networking elements. Allowing for all aspects of the ‘profile’ to be managed, both before and after provisioning.
This allows MNOs to reach many more devices, without compromising on security or interoperability with third party systems. Device manufacturers then benefit from a single tamper-proof root-of-trust. Permitting respective connectivity ‘profiles’ for both existing and future access technologies, to be selected and deployed anywhere in the world. We’ll show how this technology simplifies the supply chain and stock management of devices in the field, leading to improved service levels. This secure identity enables application developers to focus on generating value built on the foundations of prevailing connectivity and security in IoT devices.
