Enabling IoT Growth with Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Technology
As the number of connected devices grows, there will be a greater demand for sensors to capture data to share between devices. Traditional sensors include three primary functions:Power for the electronics, a sensing element, and processing for data formatting, analysis, and communication. As the demand for additional sensing nodes increases, the cost to scale traditional sensor networks limits the deployment of sensors in some applications. New wireless sensors can untether the sensing from the power and processing functions. These wireless, battery free sensors utilize energy harvesting and a shared power and processing block. These sensors complement electronic sensor networks, and reduce the cost to scale in certain applications.A shared sensor hub is used to aggregate data from multiple sensors and provide cloud connectivity to the cloud for monitoring, analytics, and action Applications include predictive maintenance, healthcare, automotive, digital farming, datacenters and more
