Technica Engineering’s SPY devices work as Active TAPs. They are the first test and evaluation tool for seamless capture of multiple in-vehicle network technologies on the market.
SPYs analyze the communication between an IVN technology and the logger or PC, always in 100BASE-TX. They differ from other marketed devices, as they allow the synchronization of several devices using RJ-45 cables, via an internal 802.1AS implementation. 802.1AS is a working group from IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standards organization dealing with 802 network management, its LANs, MANs and other wide area networks, and its architecture. Enhancing this architecture grants Technica Engineering great adaptability and flexibility towards customers’ requirements, as it’s one of the major global standard organizations in our domain.
Through a symmetrical and deterministic latency, Technica’s SPYs enable the capture of AVB/TSN traffic. Therefore, they provide fast and efficient responses to all the vehicles’ environment setbacks, putting safety in the epicenter of our innovative strategy.

At Technica Engineering, we have been developing Automotive Ethernet solutions since 2008. We have been assisting global automobile manufacturers and suppliers, such as BMW, Audi, Continental and Bosch, with development and testing projects for the validation of vehicle technology systems.

As pioneers in innovation in Automotive Ethernet, we’ve come up with a unique solution for the support of the most relevant in-vehicle communication: The Capture Modules. Through AVB/TSN compatibility and a modular and scalable system, Technica’s Capture Modules are the ideal testing tool for today’s self-driving prototype test cars. Using 802.1AS, the time synchronization within the Capture Module is ensured, and all captured traffic is provided in layer II MAC frames via the PLP protocol, making Ethernet the ideal logging network. They provide time aware injection and, to adapt to customers’ needs, Capture Modules are offered in different bus systems, such as CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, 100BASE-T1,1000BASE-T1, FlexRay, RS232 and analogue.
