TouchNetix pressScreen technology has been developed from the ground up to ensure it is suitable for the most demanding applications and even where an IP rated seal is required. The units consist of a sensor positioned at the periphery of the screen between the mounting frame and the rear surface of the front lens. A proprietary capacitance based measurement interrogates the sensor to determine and report a front lens press. The technology can be implemented as one channel (for single press) or as four channels when multiple press events are needed.
Meeting the most demanding industrial requirements, a TouchNetix pressScreen, enabled by our aXiom touchscren IC and coupled with our high performance capacitive touchscreens complies with the rigorous requirements of the EN61000 4-6 EMC specifications. The device auto-calibrates at power up and stays calibrated as long as it is powered. The technology is delivered as a fully automotive qualified IC.
Most pressScreen products are custom integrated into end users modules and are built around our standard high performance touchscreens. This provides engineers with a straightforward way to incorporate press-enabled state of the art multi-touch touchscreen capability into their end product, speeding time to market.
The sensor electronics are fully configurable by the user for a wide range of parameters providing flexibility for a range of environmental and operational conditions. The device reports when press thresholds are exceeded or can provide raw analog data for downstream post-processing. The touch and press data are correlated in the aXiom IC and can be programmed to drive low latency Haptics.
