CERBERO continuous design operational framework provides a model-based methodology and toolset for design, incremental prototyping, verification and operation of adaptive Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), competitive and ready for the market. Run-time CPS management is enabled leveraging on strategies for system-in-the loop co-simulation, continuous monitoring, optimization and system reconfiguration to provide optimal performance, while being reactive to users’ needs and changed environmental conditions.
CERBERO stands for Cross-layer modEl-based fRamework for multi-oBjective dEsign of Reconfigurable systems in unceRtain hybRid envirOnments, and it is a EU funded H2020 project that started back in 2017. The project counts 12 partners, coming from 7 different countries including Israel, Italy, Spain, France, The Netherland, Switzerland and UK. The project aimed at developing a design environment for CPS based of two pillars: a cross-layer model based approach to describe, optimize, and analyze the system and all its different views concurrently; an advanced adaptivity support based on a multi-layer autonomous engine.
To overcome the limit of current tools and technologies for CPS, CERBERO has developed and made available: libraries of generic Key Performance Indicators for reconfigurable CPS in hybrid/uncertain environments; novel formal and simulation-based methods; a continuous design environment guaranteeing early-stage analysis and optimization of functional and non-functional requirements, including energy, reliability and security, all integrated in a unified working environment that is now available for HW and SW engineers who want to design and develop innovative CPS systems in a costly manner.
