BaseHD NFC RFID reader writer can work in two basic modes: autonomous and non-autonomous.
In non-autonomous mode, device acts as all the other contactless readers of the µFR series, like Classic, Nano, Advanced. Same protocols, libraries, SDK API and examples are used for this purpose.
The significant difference is that BaseHD, when in non-autonomous mode can work on installations where long cable runs are a necessity. For example, you can establish PC- Base HD communication link with a 300 m (1000 ft) USB cable.
In addition, this device has a built-in access control IO module, which has the following functionalities:

“Push to open” button contacts
NO & NC relay contacts
Door state contact input
When used in autonomous mode, the device can act independently, without permanent host presence, only USB or other type of power supply is needed (5V DC). The device stores card related events in non-volatile memory.
Each event is also sent asynchronously to host as a Real-Time Event (RTE). BaseHD can store up to 16384 separate events. After the device’s buffer is filled, it starts to erase the oldest events in order to free memory for new forthcoming events.
Minding the complexity of access control demands, the device also supports use of blacklist and whitelist features.
Nowadays, it is a common feature to use an NFC phone instead of an NFC/RFID card.
BaseHD reader successfully supports the use of NFC phones for identification purposes. It is interesting that there is no special need for Android HCE functionality presence. Almost any NFC phone operating Android version 2.3 and higher can be used with this feature.
New SDK comes with a lot of new features and examples. One of them is a web server example which fully controls one or more BaseHD devices.
