The Ka-Ro TX Family Concept provides a standard pinout on all TX COMs. The 200 pin SO-DIMM connector is standard on all TX modules. On this pin-compatible connector, common features needed for embedded devices are located on the same pin across the entire TX family range. Display, camera interfaces, Ethernet, CAN, serial, USB and other interfaces are in the same position on al TX COMs.
This makes it very easy to exchange TX modules during development and production. Development may start with an NXP i.MX 6Ultralite, but additional features discovered and defined during development may require more processing power or memory for processing or storage.
With the TX Family standard pinout, it’s possible to upgrade to an i.MX 6Solo, DualLite or even Quad processor, increasing processing power with no setbacks, redesigns or delays in development, ensuring that a product is delivered on-time, with the functionality needed for it to succeed.
The Family Concept also makes it possible to create a new product family with a single hardware design working as a product platform. Separate products with different performance, features and price points can be delivered by using different TX COMs, so that customer can order the exact functionality they need. This approach eliminates the need to create separate products with separate BOMs, so production and inventory costs can be minimized.

Family Concept – Ka-Ro TX COMs
All Ka-Ro’s TX modules conform to the TX Standard. Created in 2003, The TX Standard designates common pins for display interfaces, common industrial ports (serial, CAN, I2C, I/O etc.) TX modules can be easily interchanged, making it easy to upgrade performance or optimize BOM cost. Ka-Ro software BSPs make application code easily transferable as well.

Our state-of-the art design and manufacturing facility in Aachen ensures complete quality control through all phases of production and testing. Automated testing procedures are applied to each module produced, and a complete record is maintained in a permanent quality database. The foundation of Ka-Ro’s commitment to quality is ISO:9001 certification. First certified in 1995, Ka-Ro has maintained certification for over 20 years. When a Ka-Ro module is designed into a customer product, Ka-Ro’s quality processes ensure a trouble-free product lifetime. Ka-Ro will not substitute components, so a standard Bill of Material provides complete component traceability. If a component on the BOM is updated, customers receive a Product Change Notification notice, an opportunity to make a Last-Time Buy, and time test and certify the revised module. Ka-Ro will not ship revised hardware without prior customer approval.
Building on this foundation of proven quality, Ka-Ro has developed a deep expertise in COM design and software development. Experienced Ka-Ro engineers continue to develop new modules and the software support. These same engineers provide customers with technical support, providing customers the exact answer needed in the shortest time.
