BaseHD NFC RFID reader writer can work in two basic modes: autonomous and non-autonomous.
In non-autonomous mode, device acts as all the other contactless readers of the µFR series, like Classic, Nano, Advanced. Same protocols, libraries, SDK API and examples are used for this purpose.
The significant difference is that BaseHD, when in non-autonomous mode can work on installations where long cable runs are a necessity. For example, you can establish PC- Base HD communication link with a 300 m (1000 ft) USB cable.
In addition, this device has a built-in access control IO module, which has the following functionalities:
Door strike lock contacts
“Push to open” button contacts
NO & NC relay contacts
Door state contact input
When used in autonomous mode, the device can act independently, without permanent host presence, only USB or other type of power supply is needed (5V DC). The device stores card related events in non-volatile memory.
Each event is also sent asynchronously to host as a Real-Time Event (RTE). BaseHD can store up to 16384 separate events. After the device’s buffer is filled, it starts to erase the oldest events in order to free memory for new forthcoming events.
Minding the complexity of access control demands, the device also supports use of blacklist and whitelist features.
Nowadays, it is a common feature to use an NFC phone instead of an NFC/RFID card.
BaseHD reader successfully supports the use of NFC phones for identification purposes. It is interesting that there is no special need for Android HCE functionality presence. Almost any NFC phone operating Android version 2.3 and higher can be used with this feature.
New SDK comes with a lot of new features and examples. One of them is a web server example which fully controls one or more BaseHD devices.
BaseHD deal for embedded projects with Raspberry Pi and similar platforms.

Digital Logic Ltd. is a Serbian company, established as an electronics repair shop in 1966, , transformed into production company in October 2000. It is engaged in research, development, production, implementation, maintenance and servicing of electronic devices based on NFC RFID technology and accompanying Software Development Kits (SDK).
Digital Logic’s Research and Development Department, with its Hardware and Software engineering teams, created an entire series of NFC RFID readers and writers of contactless cards. These devices, also available as OEM solutions, were implemented by software development companies in over 60 countries.
Digital Logic NFC RFID readers’ RF communication is based on NXP’s powerful, highly integrated reader IC for contactless communication at 13.56 MHz, which supports all protocol layers of the ISO/IEC 14443 A, ISO/IEC 14443 B and ISO/IEC 18092 communication standards.
It utilizes an outstanding modulation and demodulation concept completely integrated for different kinds of contactless communication methods and protocols at 13.56 MHz.
All variants of the MIFARE® family (MIFARE Mini®, MIFARE Classic® 1K, MIFARE Classic® 4K, MIFARE Ultralight®, MIFARE DESFire® EV1 and MIFARE Plus®) RF identification protocols are supported.
Company’s software engineers created an entire package of solutions compiled into detailed Software Development Kit, which is available for free and is being constantly upgraded. Libraries are cross-compiled for various platforms and regularly supported are Windows x86/x64, Linux x86/x64, Mac OSX x64, ARM and ARM HF. Other platforms can be supported as custom release, on customers demand.
All examples are written for all major developing platforms and languages, like:
Java (and Java Applet example),
C++ Borland Builder,
Microsoft® Visual .NET family: C++, C#, VB
Other programming languages examples can be obtained on customer demand.
In a past few years, company’s Research and Development department delivered to users several solutions that are quite unique, speaking in global terms, receiving awards and acclamations. Competing with the companies from the Far East, Digital Logic is offering adaptable, high end solutions to customer’s demands, and providing quality support around the clock, for users worldwide. Customer support, combined with software upgrades that are being continuously developed, are ensuring its clients that service doesn’t end up with the purchase.
The list of company solutions is long and some of the systems are uFR Classic NFC RFID Reader/Writer, uFR Nano NFC RFID Reader/Writer, Base HD USB NFC RFID reader, Android Power Bridge (APB), DL533X (OEM) contactless reader, DL NFC 2DQR Reader.
Company products found their application in the fields of
NFC RFID programming tools containing devices and Software Development Kits (SDK), wrote by company's own team of IT engineers and sold through e-shop and with excellent reception among IT professionals around the world.
Transport (Bus ticketing, Electronic fare collection, GPS satellite tracking).
- Access control (Time and Attendance system, turnstiles, System for controlled access to Concert halls, Sport venues, Water parks and pools).
Digital Logic‘s engineers are constantly upgrading products and developing new solutions, proving that innovative thinking is the only key to success.
