License-free, certified around the world
The Trimble TMR1 Modem is a dual ISM band (868-870 and 902-928 MHz) networked transceiver supporting license-free wireless communications around the world. It is able to operate with data links as high as 2.6 Mbps and so can easily handle multiple Ethernet and serial sensor feeds, including video. Range as high as 70 miles has been demonstrated in low noise environments. The TMR1 Modem’s high performance and versatility make it ideal for oil/gas, water and electric utilities, environmental monitoring and agricultural applications.
Adaptive Range/Speed Technology
The Trimble TMR1 Modem uses adaptive range/speed technology to communicate within the network and automatically select the maximum throughput possible given the distance between the transceivers and the ambient noise and attenuation levels. And as noise levels change over time, the TMR1 Modem network adapts so it always offers the maximum throughput. And they can be easily set up as repeaters along linear networks such as pipelines or electrical transmission towers.
The Trimble TMR1 Modem supports both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint network topologies. With most networked radios operating in point-to-multipoint mode, the speed of the access point radio is restricted to the speed of the weakest link. For example, if one link can only maintain 256 kbps, all links will operate at the same reduced speed. But the Trimble TMR1 Modem supports multiple speeds when linking to multiple remote radios, automatically selecting the highest link rate maintainable for each individual remote radio. So a distant radio in a noisy environment won’t drag down the speed of the whole network.
Dual data ports for both serial and IP communication
The Trimble TMR1 Modem is equipped with two RJ45 connectors: one for serial and one for Ethernet. This allows you to attach sensors to the TMR1 Modem in the field and to communicate with any TMR1 Modem via Ethernet cables, a LAN/WAN or the Internet. All links can be protected by AES-256 data encryption and VLAN segregation, so only you can communicate with your network.
