Biggest ever embedded world starts
  • No. 1 international embedded gathering
  • Focus on safety, security and ultra-low power
  • embedded AWARD for outstanding innovations
The eleventh edition of the embedded world Exhibition&Conference consistently continues the success story of the previous events: 868 international exhibitors meet in Nürnberg at their industry’s biggest gathering from 26–28 February 2013. Here the exhibiting companies present innovations and groundbreaking trends and new products from the world of embedded system technology. This year’s event is geared to safety, security and ultra-low power, which is shown in the exhibition halls and at the embedded world Conference. More than 300 presentations at the accompanying conferences confirm the outstanding position of the embedded world Exhibition&Conference as the industry’s leading platform that provides the answers to the embedded community’s current questions.

“Life without embedded systems is no longer conceivable today. The speed and dynamic of the industry is both impressive and inspiring. The international embedded community meets here and exhibitors from 36 countries again make the event the no. 1 gathering for embedded experts from all over the world,” says a delighted Richard Krowoza, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse.
In halls 1, 2, 4, 4A and 5, the exhibiting firms show visitors the entire spectrum of the latest embedded technologies and provide extensive information on the latest technical developments. “The quality of embedded world has distinctly improved again in 2013. First this shows how much potential and power the subject and the industry possesses, and second the move to halls 1 to 5 for embedded world 2012 has already created the necessary space to enable the companies to present their products even more effectively. Both visitors and exhibitors appreciate the short distance between the exhibition and conference,” says a pleased Alexander Mattausch, Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse.

What concerns the experts: safety, security and ultra-low power

Safety, security and ultra-low power are among the current trends that are reflected at embedded world and discussed extensively in the accompanying conference programme. Safety and security, i.e. the reliability, failure safety and availability of embedded systems and their protection against manipulation have top priority in the development of embedded systems.
Ultra-low power solutions are required to implement embedded systems with the longest possible operating times and the lowest energy consumption. Exhibitors from the three product groups of hardware, software and tools present innovative products and solutions that set new standards at the world’s biggest special-interest exhibition for embedded technologies.

Making the invisible visible? Stuart McClure shows how at the conference

Die renommierte embedded world Conference im NCC Ost bietet mit über
The noted embedded world Conference in NCC Ost offers knowledge transfer on topical matters concerning embedded system development with more than 270 first-class presentations. Well-known experts from 22 countries provide first-hand specialist knowledge and make the conference an embedded highlight.
This year’s embedded world Conference focuses on safety, security and ultra-low power, which are examined from all aspects. “With altogether
46 sessions and classes with top-calibre speakers, the eleventh embedded world Conference emphasizes its outstanding importance for the international embedded community,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Sturm, HTWK Leipzig, Chairman of the embedded world Exhibition Committee.

Stuart McClure, a globally recognized expert on the security of information systems, deals with the question of how information systems can be made secure in his keynote on “Securing Invisible Things”, in Shanghai hall at
11:00 on 26 February 2013. Admission is free for all visitors and participants at embedded world.
The main focuses at the embedded world Conference 2013 also include current topics like M2M, Embedded System Design Automation, Android or Automotive Applications.
A good tradition: Embedded specialists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS), the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technology (FIRST), the Embedded Systems Institute and other leading European research institutions and universities chair the sessions and classes at the conference.

The future in view: electronic displays Conference 2013

The electronic displays Conference is one of the world’s most important platforms in the field of display technologies. It offers developers, researchers and users information on the international display markets and the latest technical solutions. “The electronic displays Conference stands for concentrated knowledge and know-how transfer at the highest level. The international experts can look forward to a highly topical conference programme with first-class presentations,” says Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Blankenbach, Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences, Chairman of the Conference Committee.

The highlights include sessions on Automotive Displays, E-Signage, Touch Screens and future display trends like OLEDs. Eight keynotes and twelve sessions on these and other topics promise a comprehensive overview of current developments and the visions of the display industry. The established author interviews after the almost 50 presentations also offer scope for in-depth discussion.

33 exhibitors present an extensive show of innovative display technologies in the electronic display areas in halls 1 and 5.
The highlight for students: The “DFF Student Paper Award” will be presented to outstanding theses on electronic displays.

M2M Area: more room for communication

The M2M Area, which now takes place for the fifth time, concentrates the information offered on communication between embedded systems – a segment of embedded system development that is becoming increasingly important. It is a permanent feature of embedded world and is growing continuously. 31 exhibitors present products and solutions for machine-to-machine communication in halls 4 and 5 – for the first time on two special areas and with a new record amount of space.
Visitors to the M2M Area can obtain information on remote maintenance solutions, communication modules or terminals that interact with otherdevices. “M2M communication opens up a number of new possibilities for embedded system developers. The future lies in connecting individual systems, because this enables many complex applications to be implemented in the first place,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Sturm.

Prize-winning innovations: the noted embedded AWARD

Not only is the AWARD itself a gain, the mere nomination is a great distinction. International pavilions and young innovative companies

France, Serbia and the USA are present with pavilions at embedded
world 2013. The French embedded specialists present their products in a pavilion organized by the export promotion company Ubifrance in hall 4. The Serbian companies Bitgear Wireless Design Services, ELSYS Eastern Europe, Geneko, IMPT, MikroElektronika, and Seavus exhibit under the roof of SIEPA.

In a pavilion organized by the direct exhibitor PC/104 from the USA, the firms RTD Embedded Technologies, Sundance and Versalogic Cooperation present their products as well as Adlink Technology and Kontron, who are also present as direct exhibitors.

The pavilion for young innovative companies from Germany is larger than before and accommodates twelve embedded newcomers like gestigon, Helion, ProximusDA or Timing Architects.

Another powerful partner: BITKOM supports embedded world 2013

The IT association BITKOM also supports embedded world in 2013. “I am delighted that BITKOM has renewed its commitment to this year’s embedded world and communicates it as THE international gathering for embedded developers, visionaries and experts,” says Richard Krowoza.
